Sometimes the first version isn’t the final one.
Mixed Berry began as a speckle yarn—little spots of color scattered across the skeins. But the yarn had become too dry before I dyed it, and the speckles didn’t set the way they should have.
After washing, the result was muddy and disappointing. Four skeins that had seemed full of promise suddenly looked like something I wasn’t sure I could use.

I set them aside to dry while I moved on to something else.
Later, I wondered what might happen if I approached them differently.
I overdyed them with a deep blue, leaving some of the original speckles and undyed areas untouched. The blue gave the color depth, while the bits that remained allowed the original colors to peek through.
The result was something I hadn’t planned at all—and, somehow, something I loved even more.
Sometimes boring and sad just needs a little something more to turn into beauty and happiness.
Mixed Berry is a reminder that not everything has to work the first time. Sometimes it just needs another way forward.
